During 2002 - 2005, the MRLC hopes to conduct various activities. The following are expected to be among them. Funds to support these activities are still sought.

 

1. A 3-Year Project on 'Promotion of Effective Recognition and Enforcement of Human Rights in the Mekong Region Plus 2' [This project is expected to consist of 2 components:-

Component 1: The (2nd) 3-day Regional Conference on 'Trafficking in Children and
Women and Other Forms of Unfair Exploitation of Children and Women in the Mekong Region' (Expected dates: November 2002); and,

Component 2: 3-Year Program on 'Regional Training Workshops on Human Rights in the Mekong Region Plus 2: the Laws and Practices' for participants from Mekong region countries, Indonesia and East-Timor (esp. police officers, schoolteachers, officers working in the corrections departments and grass roots) (3 weeks per workshop; 6 workshops per year) (Expected dates and number of participants of each of the workshop: mid 2002 - mid 2005, and and, approx., 30 - 35 persons ) (with simultaneous translation to allow wider participation)

2. A 3-Year Project on 'Training Workshops on Laws and Practices Relating to Child Protection
and Trafficking in Children in Thailand' for Thai participants (esp. police officers, social workers and schoolteachers) (3 weeks/workshop; approx., 7 workshops per year) (Expected dates and number of participants of each of the workshop: mid 2002 - mid 2005, and, approx., 30 persons)
N.B. A proposal for funds to help cover some of the Project's activities has been submitted to UNICEF/Thailand. The result of the submission is still awaited.

3. A 3-Year Project on 'Regional Training Workshops on An Introduction to Laws Concerning Business Organizations (including Taxation) and to Business Planning' for entrepreneurs in small and medium enterprises (SMEs) (esp. women in small enterprises) (3 weeks/workshop; 6 workshops per year) (with simultaneous translation to allow wider participation)

4. A 3-Year Training the Trainers Project on 'An Introductory Course on Environment-Related Laws' [To train trainers in disciplines other than law (especially school teachers), using the curriculum specially prepared for the MRLC with the support from Danida/UNEP.] (18 training days per training; 6 training programs per year) (reional training programs, with simultaneous translation to allow wider participation)

5. A 3-Year Training the Trainers Project on 'An Advanced Course on Environment-Related Concepts and Laws' [To train trainers in disciplines other than law, using the curriculum specially prepared for the MRLC with the support from Danida/UNEP] (3 weeks per training program; 6 training programs per year) (regional training, with simultaneous translation to allow wider participation)

6. A 3-Year Project on 'Training Workshops for Environment-Related Law Enforcement Officials' [using the curriculum specially prepared for the MRLC with the support from Danida/UNEP] (3 weeks per workshop; 4 workshops per year) (regional training workshops, with simultaneous translation to allow wider participation)

7. A 2-year project on 'A Comparative Research on Laws and Policies on the Management of Natural Resources in ASEAN'

8. A 2-year project on 'A Comparative Research on Laws and Policies Concerning Immigrations in ASEAN countries, Focusing on Labor Movements'
